Computer Scientist -Senior

Job Summary: 

The Senior Computer Scientist provides algorithm and software development support to DoD clients at our office in Melbourne, Florida. The Senior Computer Scientist will need experience in Linux server environments with proficiency in Python and shell scripting.
 
  Responsibilities:

• Develop algorithms, research new ML/AI methods, and conduct system testing for Cloud Application/Cloud Services. 
• Develop initiatives in a team setting, working with software engineers and other algorithm developers.
• Work on research and development for time series/sequence prediction, pattern recognition, and classification algorithms.  
• Optimize algorithm architectures and implementations to reduce cost latency in data processing.  
• Train algorithms on data sets and write test and evaluation scripts.  
• Work in a continuous integration environment onsite in collaboration with the software engineering team.
• Assist with technical architecture design tasks. 
• Research cloud-based deployment options, such as AWS or C2S, and estimate provisioning needs. 
• Gather stakeholder feedback and communicate algorithm design features, capabilities, and limitations. 
• Participate in VTCs, team meetings, and demos when needed.
• Help evaluate technologies, design data processing chains, and help manage and guide junior team members.

 Requirements:

• Must be a US citizen.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field and eleven (11) or more years of directly related experience.
• Must be able to communicate clearly with senior level clients in order to explain the progress and results of work.
• Ability to research technical issues.
• Ability to delegate R&D tasks to subordinate members of project team.
• Experience in researching and developing novel ML/AI approaches and Neural Network Architectures.
• Experience developing algorithms for time series or sequence data.
• Experience programming in Linux. 
• Good communications and listening skills are critical components of this job.
• Must be able to interact with algorithm development and software teams.
• Knowledge and skills in Python, C++ (or another high-level, compiled language), Linux, Gitlab, Docker, and Commercial Cloud Services (AWS, or similar). 
• Successful background and drug screening check.

Preferred Requirements:

• Active secret or higher security clearance.
• Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Expertise in designing and implementing cache replacement algorithms.
• Prior experience working with CCSDS, OMS/UCI, CDM, C2SSA COI, and EOSSA data formats or other Space Systems-related data types.
• Prior experience developing online ML algorithms or other adaptive approaches.
• Experience with Edge ML/AI.
• Experience with model distillation or other model size reduction methods.
• Experience implementing caching methods and working with AWS ElastiCache.
• Experience with classified development platforms.
• Knowledge of and experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS). 
• Experience with Docker and other containerization technologies.
