Job Description
- Create and maintain operating instructional manuals, and other documentation.
- Collaborate with product safety engineers, product owners and managers.
- Designing, creating and revising safety warnings, setup and adjustment instructions, for external use
- Researching/learning products, features, processes, applications, industry concepts and technologies using our requirements and design specifications, hands-on product testing, interviews and related resources
- Must be willing to take ownership of the issue analysis and resolution efforts and committing to doing what it takes to resolve technical issues regardless of the effort or time frame required
- Participating in, comprehending and contributing to product requirement review meetings
- Guiding deliverables through content reviews, revisions, and approvals
- Adhering to all company standards, including product safety protocols, product manual creation processes and accurate time tracking
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, or other writing-intensive program
- Minimum of 3 years of technical writing experience in consumer goods environment (power tools industry preferred) for product manuals/operating instructions
- Solid technical writing skills, including the ability to research and document functionality, protocols and processes
- Knowledge of product safety related technical writing
- Excellent writing, grammar, proofreading and editing skills and strong verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization skills, with the ability to maintain schedules and meet deadlines
- Personable with an ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to interpret product specifications, applications and product usage into product safety required text
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to uncover errors with predefined business specifications
- Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
- Self-starter with the discipline and ability to work under minimal supervision and keeping records of progress.
- Experience with Adobe InDesign and CAD preferred but not required
