Summary:


Anaconda is seeking Director, Commercial Counsel to be the key leader supporting the Go-to-Market organization in all things customer and partner sales. This includes directly working on commercial transactions, including negotiating, drafting, and managing commercial agreements with customers, suppliers, and other key partners. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of commercial law, with the ability to balance legal expertise and commercial savvy, work cross-functionally with a dynamic team to solve complex legal issues, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This role will report to the Vice President, Commercial Legal and is a fully remote opportunity within the U.S., offering a fantastic opportunity to be an integral member of a small, rapidly scaling legal function of high impact. 


What You'll Do:

  • Provide high-impact partnership to our Revenue teams, including the enterprise, mid-market, and commercial sales teams, the partnership teams, the customer success team, and the professional services team.
  • Directly negotiate a wide range of agreements, effectively helping to meet business objectives and close deals while managing potential risks. 
  • Provide strategic guidance on issues relevant to specific industry verticals.
  • Assist with strategic litigation, when and if necessary, regarding infringing use cases from existing users and prospective customers.
  • Drive operational enhancements to support go-to-market contracting, including enhancing  processes and improving communication, software implementations and integrations, data tagging and reporting, and more.
  • Help define and implement commercial legal metrics, including contributing towards improvements in key areas such as time to markup, time to close, average deal size, number of touchpoints, and other key commercial and legal metrics. 
  • Ensure continuing strong relationships and love between Revenue teams and Legal, building, maintaining, and enhancing relationships with key Revenue org members.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to members of the Commercial Legal and broader Legal team.  

What You Need:

  • JD from an accredited law school and bar admission in at least one U.S. state.
  • 12+ years relevant legal experience, including multiple years of progressive responsibility in the in-house context. 
  • Seasoned commercial lawyer with expertise across commercial agreements and intellectual property licenses, including SaaS, partnership, professional services, and vend
