Job Duties
Quality and Infection Prevention Control
• Receives dirty/contaminated equipment, supplies, and supply baskets from the operating room, ancillary departments within HWDMC and CSH to clean and prepare for re-issue.
• Maintains quality control in all phases of supply and equipment sterilization while maintaining records that meet hospital/JCAHO standards for documentation.
• Cleans autoclaves weekly.
• Decontaminates and cleans reusable supplies and equipment.
• Receives and cleans machines and equipment used for patient care and returns equipment following cleaning.
Inventory
• Make daily rounds within Hiram W. Davis Medical Center to inspect all CMES supplies.
• Inventories and maintains adequate stock levels of medical supplies and equipment on the floors and in CMES.
• Assist medical with obtaining and ordering surgical supplies when requested.
• Pulls and replenishes outdated supplies. Adheres to written guidelines regarding the 30-day shelf life for all hospital-sterilized supplies.
Medical Equipment Specialist
• Serves as backup for Medical Equipment Specialist and other CMES staff when needed. This includes but is not limited to task such as updating equipment inventory, equipment tracking, equipment distribution, equipment storage, equipment returns, and vendor communication.
• Monitor and respond to recall alerts appropriately
Minimum Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of aseptic techniques, sterile supply needs, equipment, performance requirements and department
administrative procedures related to CMES. Possess demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others; to read and write; to prepare written
work reports; to maintain and track inventory and to physically perform the duties of the position, including lifting, bending, pushing and stretching.
Skill in providing standard services. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively with others; Ability to follow directions regarding CMES
procedures and knowledge of CMES equipment, sanitation procedures and inventory control
Additional Considerations
