Combining a deep systems knowledge to develop unique vehicle access experiences, intelligent visions systems and advanced automotive lighting technologies, MML's expertise light the path to innovation, safety and styling.</p> <p> </p> <h2>About the Role</h2> <p>As a member of the Global Purchasing Organization, you will assist in the development and implementation of Purchasing Strategies according to Goals and Objectives and Commodity Roadmaps defined by the Global Commodity Director in conjunction with the Regional Lead Buyer. Regional / Divisional commodity responsibility for sourcing, sourcing decisions, negotiations and managing the supply base for a segment or group of suppliers in respect with purchasing policy, internal code of ethics, internal safety and environment rules.</p> <h2>Your Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li>In coordination with the Global Commodity Director, Regional Commodity Lead, as well as Strategic Commodity Buyer counterpart in other global regions, develop and implement commodity strategies in assigned commodity(ies) (technology, footprint, quality, economics, supply base reduction / consolidation, etc.).</li> <li>Manage RFQ’s to the supply base according to the commodity strategy to support Operational Purchasing programs (current and new).</li> <li>Evaluate supplier cost structure to obtain the best overall value on behalf of MML. Minimize collective risk through favorable raw material, currency, and other adjustment mechanisms.</li> <li>Utilize a total cost approach to optimize piece prices for new and existing business in the assigned commodities. Tactics include program bundling, global sourcing &amp; leverage, dual sourcing, tariff &amp; UCT duty mitigation, specification / tolerance / material changes, process optimization, VAVE, logistics &amp; packaging optimization, payment term improvement.</li> <li>Lead MML divisions in establishing supplier Long Term Agreements and supplier giveback terms.</li> <li>Manage supplier relationships through regular business roadmap reviews and disciplined contract management (NDA, Terms &amp; Conditions, Nominations Letters, Settlement Agreements, etc.).</li> <li>Evaluate Regional / Global market conditions.</li> <li>Lead a cross functional team in support of the assigned commodity (ies), including Program Management, Engineering, Production Controls and Logistics, Supplier Quality Development and Quality departments.</li> <li>Coordinate supplier development, consolidation, and reduction programs/suppliers.</li> <li>In coordination with Operational Purchasing, develop and execute divisional cost savings initiatives &amp; risk mitigation strategies on existing business to achieve annual savings budgets.</li> <li>Within your assigned commodity, ensure purchasing leverage is optimized by providing oversight of the consolidated buy for all the MML Divisions.</li> <li>Keep senior MML management informed of critical issues through clear and concise communications and presentations.</li> <li>Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.</li> </ul> <h2>Who we are looking for</h2> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or related discipline</li> <li>3-5 years' progressive experience in the Purchasing field preferably in an automotive / manufacturing environment.</li> <li>Previous commodity experience with electronics </li> <li>Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20% of the time</li> <li>Perform tasks and responsibilities detailed in Magna’s IATF16949 policies, procedures, and work instructions.</li> <li>Complies with the designated ISO / 14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management in accordance with Magna’s Environmental Management System (EMS
