JOB SUMMARY
This position is in the Engineering and Reliability Department and reports to the Engineering and Reliability Manager. This position has two direct reports and three indirect reports.
Manage/provide expertise to Clear Lake Mechanical Integrity program, process, and Mechanical Integrity team. Develop and implement Mechanical Integrity/Risk Based Inspection strategy at Clear Lake Plant and collaborate with Arkema North America Center For Manufacturing Excellence (CFME) on key Mechanical Integrity initiatives at site. Manages outside contractors to ensure completing Mechanical Integrity inspection testing on required frequencies and conducts inspections of plant piping, vessels, fireproofing and tanks for the determination of corrosion rate and remaining life calculations. Determines and improves continuously inspection frequencies and schedules. Maintains updates and continuously improves for the entire plant Mechanical Integrity inspection system by updating isometric drawings, revised piping, piping replacements, new equipment, etc.
- Accountable for interaction in a team environment and work closely with hourly and professional personnel.
- Must provide metrics and accountability driven leadership and show a high degree of self-motivation and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily Inspection Team Supervision - 40%
- Leadership accountability for development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Clear Lake Plant Mechanical Integrity program
- Leadership accountability to ensure that inspector resources have the necessary skills and experience to maintain Mechanical Integrity inspection process.
- Equipment and Piping Reliability – Develop Mechanical Integrity program for fixed equipment and piping to become model for other plants in Coating Solutions Platform
- Responsible for establishing appropriate team to report, meet targets and continuously improve Mechanical Integrity department and individual metrics to ensure that the inspection process manages risk levels in the plant to an acceptable level.
- Setting high expectations and standards for the department to follow
- Managing the internal and external contract resources to comply completely with all necessary inspections.
- Driving the mechanical integrity team to take aggressive action leading to the timely completion of the action items and incident investigations.
- Ensure site RBI/Mechanical Integrity program is compliance with local/national regulatory.
- Communication - 10%
- As part of the corporate CFME pool of resources, facilitate RBI/Mechanical Integrity Best Practice Sharing across Arkema North America (where appropriate)
- Working effectively with several cross-functional teams and communicating effectively with all levels of the organization
- Accountable to assist plant management in establishing an acceptable level of risk for Mechanical Integrity across the plant.
- Providing strategic insight to the site Mechanical Integrity annual operating process, strategic plan, and capital budget
- Being the recognized expert of mechanical integrity codes, standards, and inspection techniques
- Accountable for communication of the status of RBI/Mechanical Integrity status to appropriate stakeholders
- Failure Analysis - 20%
- Leadership accountability to ensure that data collected is accurate and addresses the appropriate failure modes for fixed equipment at the facility.
- Responsible to ensure that adequate resources are available to perform any required fitness for service evaluations or failure analyses.
- Providing the management team with well written and oral presentations with necessary information and supporting analysis to make appropriate business decisions.
- Develop/approve equipment repairs per local/national codes and RAGAGEPs.
- Evaluate failure areas to propose material of construction and other design changes to be used in the capital plan.
- Document Management - 10%
- Leadership accountability to ensure that procedures are in place to define inspection strategies based on evaluated or expected risk.
- Audit/evaluate contracted repair organizations and inspect repairs.
- Accountable to develop and maintain documentation of emergency/temporary repairs and equipment deferrals.
- Properly managing the records associated with vessel, piping and relief valve inspections
- Utilizing proper Arkema documentation systems as the location for all records in the Mechanical Integrity program
