<p><b>Job Title:</b><span> Medical <span>Assistant Senior</span></span></p><p><b>Department: </b>Cardiology</p><p><b>Location: </b>Canal Landing (Greece)</p><p><b>Hours Per Week: </b>40</p><p><b>Schedule: </b>7:00am- 3:30pm, 7:30am-4:00pm, 8:00am-4:30pm.</p><p><span> </span></p><p><b>SUMMARY:</b></p><p><span>As a Medical Assistant, you are a non-licensed health care provider who, under the direction and supervision of a licensed health care provider, delivers direct and indirect patient care. You play an integral role in maintaining patient well-being, and contribute to the success of patients, physicians and licensed health care providers.</span></p><p><span> </span></p><p><b>OUR Department:</b></p><p>The <span>Sands-Constellation Heart</span> Institute at Rochester General Hospital is a regional leader in cardiac care. With three dedicated operating rooms, four state-of-the-art cardiac labs, and two electrophysiology labs at Rochester General Hospital, SCHI is able to ensure that your heart health needs are met and was named among the top 10% in the nation for cardiology services. </p><p><b> </b></p><p><b>RESPONSIBILITIES:</b></p><p><i>Clinical Responsibilities:</i></p><p><span>• Conducts pre-visit planning (PVP). Works reports for gaps and delinquencies (patient outreach and scheduling for follow up). Completes health maintenance, registry reports (gap work)</span></p><p><span>• Accurately obtains and documents patient vital signs, history, and screenings. Recognizes deviations from the norms, and promptly reports to a licensed staff member.</span></p><p><span>• Understands principles of obtaining an accurate EKG and attaches monitor leads and operates equipment when directed. Reports problems or malfunctions in a timely manner to a licensed staff member. Accurately completes appropriate documentation. Performs EKGs when requested.</span></p><p><span>• Reviews patient medication list and pends refills for provider's approval. Pends provider's orders.</span></p><p><span>• Collects specimen, conducts tests and documents patient POCT. Collects specimens (except strep) and label to be sent out for testing.</span></p><p><span>• Demonstrates competency in Phlebotomy, including correct labeling of specimen tubes and ordering of lab tests via the computer.</span></p><p><span>• Provides clinical assistance to providers and nursing personnel as per delegation.</span></p><p><span>• Assists provider with procedures</span></p><p><span>• Provides instruction and information as part of patient education process under the guidance of providers or RN.</span></p><p><span>• Restocks medical supplies in exam and treatment rooms. Puts adequate linen supply in place or empty’s waste and liner receptacles.</span></p><p><span>• Checks calibration and cleaning of test equipment. Preps instruments to go out for sterilization.</span></p><p><span>• Orders clinical supplies</span></p><p><span>• Completes patient forms.</span></p><p><span>• Submits Prior Authorizations requests.</span></p><p><span>• Mails provider communications to patients</span></p><p><span>• Assembles packets for provider use (exp. ADHD)</span></p><p><span> </span></p><p><i>Non- Clinical Responsibilities:</i></p><p><span>• Assists with medical record system through abstraction (scanning and filing) of patient health</span></p><p><span>maintenance and test reports.</span></p><p><span>• Upon request compiles statistical data from patient records that are necessary for Quality </span><span><span>Assurance/Improvement</span></span><span> activities.</span></p><p><span>• Answer phones and schedules appointments.</span></p><p><span>• Check in and Check out patients.</span></p><p><span>• Verifies insurance.</span></p><p><span>• Processes referrals.</span></p><p><span>• Sorts and delivers mail.</span></p><p><span>• Collects and posts payments, and may also perform charge entry.</span></p><p><span>• Maintains non-clinical office supplies.</span></p><p><span>• Provides My Care Education and assist with sign up</span></p><p><span>• Provides Patient Escorts (to lab and radiology)</span></p><p><span>• Sends Physical Packets to Patients</span></p><p><b> </b></p><p><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</b></p><p><span>·</span><span><span> </span></span><span>None</span></p><p></p><p><b>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</b></p><p><span>·</span><span><span> </span></span><span>Associates degree preferred.</span></p><p><span>·</span><span><span> </span></span><span>Experience in pre-hospital care activities or acute/critical care experience preferred.</span></p><p><span>·</span><span><span> </span></span><span>Medical Assistant Certification preferred.</span></p><p><span>·</span><span><span> </span></span><span>Strong customer service, computer, and communication skills highly desi
