Job Description
EAG Laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Analyst – ICP‑MS to join our Syracuse, NY laboratory. This role focuses on trace and ultra‑trace elemental analysis using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP‑MS) in a fast‑paced industrial testing environment.

Key Responsibilities
ICP‑MS Analysis & Reporting
- Perform trace and ultra‑trace elemental analysis using ICP‑MS
- Analyze a wide range of materials, including:
- Metals and alloys
- Semiconductor‑related materials
- High‑purity and specialty materials
- Prepare, run, and evaluate calibration standards, blanks, and QC samples
- Interpret analytical data and generate clear, customer‑ready reports
- Identify and address spectral and matrix interferences
Sample Preparation
- Prepare samples using techniques such as:
- Acid digestion (microwave or hot block)
- Dilutions and standard preparation
- Maintain strong contamination control and documentation practices
- Follow laboratory safety procedures when handling acids and reagents
Instrumentation & Troubleshooting
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ICP‑MS instrumentation
- Perform routine performance checks, tuning, and maintenance
- Investigate out‑of‑spec results and recommend corrective actions
- Support continuous improvement of analytical methods and workflows
Collaboration & Quality
- Work closely with laboratory staff to meet customer timelines
- Prioritize work effectively in a high‑throughput industrial lab
- Comply with internal quality systems, safety requirements, and ISO 27001 information security standards
Work Schedule
- Primary schedule: 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM, Monday–Thursday
- Alternate schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday
Candidates must be comfortable working the evening shift based on business needs.
