Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assess physical, mental, and psychological status of patient using age-appropriate knowledge within surgical specialty and patients served.
- Plans, evaluates and supervises care of all patients assigned
- Works collaboratively with other disciplines in care of patients to provide excellent service to patients served.
- Coordinates and participates in formal and informal educational programs, in-services and performance improvement activities to improve technical skills within PACU
- Responsible for continued learning and application to practice within PACU
- Synthesizes patient care information to formulate appropriate nursing diagnosis.
- Responsible to provide patient and family education to population served.
- Work practice reflects philosophy purpose and policies of the hospital and department based upon evidence based best practices and ASPAN standards
- Assumes call coverage within 30 minutes travel time from hospital.
- Coordinates care in conjunction with Surgery to ensure safe and proactive patient planning by addressing needs.
- Coordinates with Staff Ed to mentor new RNs within specialty.

Education/Experience Required:
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
- Recent charge nurse experience in the 3 months.
- Evidence of continuing education.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic nursing process.
- Three years experience with proficiency in PACU
- Proactive, interpersonal written and verbal communication skills-evidenced based and best practice.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities in order to remove barriers, solve problems and plan service delivery.
Registration/Certification:
- Current RN Massachusetts License
- BLS Certification maintained
- ACLS Certification maintained
- PALS Certification maintained
