Job Description


Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Estimating to lead estimating services for some of our key projects and clients. The ideal individual will have great communication skills and have experience providing Estimating Review services which are oriented towards the numerous facilities and projects that are the responsibility of our infrastructure transportation client. Assets include Aviation, Rail, Roads, Bridges, Highways, Tunnels, Terminal, and Ports. 

*On-site presence at the client’s office in downtown Jersey City is required Monday to Friday. Requirements may change depending on our client's needs.
 

Responsibilities:  

  • Manage and provide estimating/cost consultancy services for various infrastructure construction projects.
  • Specialize in conceptual estimating within the estimating domain, offering expert guidance and support to team members.
  • Mentor and coach estimators, fostering their professional development and promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement. 
  • Provide reporting on key performance indicators to assess the performance of the organization and the team against a set of metrics determined by industry standards.
  • Manage the development of unit prices and/or lump sum estimates based on labor, materials and equipment.  
  • Provide estimating advice, guidance, and analysis and present formal estimating reports for project estimates including quantity, cost, escalation, and other assumptions and clarifications to project stakeholders.
  • Perform cost risk analysis and provide input into value engineering; negotiate and approve final accounts.
  • Manage internal systems for purchase orders, invoicing, and risk management.
  • Build business capability by anticipating future challenges and opportunities for clients, and implementing new estimating services that align with changes to the best standards held within the industry.
  • Create business opportunities through business development, key client development, and opportunity tracking within the region utilizing local knowledge and expertise to estimate needs, clients, and development.
  • Support the Account Director in efforts to win new work by leading bids for estimating scopes of work, presenting to potential clients, and sharing best practice to foster a learning environment
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related degree from a US accredited college or university is mandatory. 
  • Graduate degree in quantity surveying, cost management, construction management, or engineering is preferred. 
  • Minimum 10 to 20 years of relevant experience working in an estimating role with a variety of construction trades for building, heavy/civil, and infrastructure construction. Horizontal construction experience is a must. 
  • Experience preparing and reviewing estimates of construction changes, for all disciplines for consistency, accuracy, and conformance with project scope.
  • Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, organizational and communication skills. 
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel is mandatory, with overall knowledge utilizing MS Office Suite, including working knowledge of estimating software is mandatory.

Additional Information


The salary range for this full-time role is $175K-$200K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package.  Please note Tu
