About the role

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 100 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

Job Title: Sr. Staff Engineer, Mass Properties
Worksite: 190 W. Tasman Drive, San Jose, CA 95134 (May Telecommute)
Offered Salary Range: $200,450 - $215,450 per year


What You’ll Do

  • Define, own, and manage Mass Properties for the company, including the flight test vehicle and
    the company’s first certified e-VTOL aircraft.
  • Build and manage a mass properties database to support aircraft development of both vehicles.
  • Track vehicle mass, CG, and vehicle inertias.
  • Work with leadership, design teams, and suppliers to manage margins, risks, and opportunities.
  • Lead/coordinate mass reduction initiatives, mass properties maturity progression, oversee use
    of parametric and estimated mass, measurement of equipment, and audit of actuals.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related STEM field; and
  • Any occupation title in which eight (8) years experience as a Mass Properties Engineer, Technical
    specialist, Aerospace Engineer, or related job title in which experience in Mass Properties
    weighing aircraft, creating and publishing FAA compliant reports, communicating technical data,
    and working with multiple teams and suppliers to develop weight requirement and control plan
    was gained. 5 years must be post-degree, progressive experience.
