Associate Professor or Professor - Director, Division of Physical Therapy, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine

The University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Physical Therapy, invites applications for Program Director and Associate Chair, Division of Physical Therapy, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. This is a full-time position, with tenure, appointed at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Associate Professors and Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Anticipated start date is Fall 2024, but other dates may be considered.

As Director and a member of the Division of Physical Therapy, the successful candidate will participate in research, teaching, and scholarship -- as well as leadership and program assessment and planning -- and will be expected to fulfill requirements for advancement along the Clinician-Scientist pathway of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine. 

The Director the Division of Physical Therapy role also holds the department title of Associate Chair, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Responsibilities include leading the administration and strategic growth of the division, program assessment and planning, teaching courses in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree program, maintaining a productive research program, and demonstrating leadership in service. The Director is responsible for a range of essential functions including strategic planning; mentoring and evaluating faculty; supervising staff; fiscal management of a self-sustaining program; communication; recruiting a strong faculty and staff; leading the DPT program CAPTE and Graduate School accreditation processes; developing strategies for faculty professional development; promoting and supporting clinical, service, research, and PT residency programs; and actively supporting faculty and students in scholarly endeavors. Opportunities to mentor students in the PhD Program in Rehabilitation Science and clinical residency programs are also available, as well as to collaborate with existing research teams and pursue an independent research portfolio.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position will be $12,900 - $15,500 per month ($154,800 - $186,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The Division Director administrative role carries an administrative supplement of $1,667 per month ($20,004 per annum) for as long as the individual hired holds the role.

Other compensation associated with this position may include a moving allowance or relocation incentive, if applicable.
