The Commodity Buyer performs essential functions for Direct Materials Planning related to pricing and purchasing of materials, forecasting, evaluating, and managing purchased inventory levels, requesting material pricing estimates, managing material data sheets, and compliance documentation.The Commodity Buyer performs essential functions for Direct Materials Planning related to pricing and purchasing of materials, forecasting, evaluating, and managing purchased inventory levels, requesting material pricing estimates, managing material data sheets, and compliance documentation.
Essential Job Functions:
· Purchasing and forecasting of direct materials and services at negotiated pricing.
· Manage and report supplier performance.
· Requesting material price estimates for new business opportunities.
· Communicating any potential impacts to production timing on material delays for risk mitigation.
· Manage material data sheets for compliance.
· Maintain supplier quality certifications.
· Manage purchased inventory records and transactions.
· Assist in the physical inventory process.
· Understand and support quality audits and related process updates.
· Corporate continuous improvement project management.
Training for Job Functions:
- IQMS – Inventory, Sales/Distribution, PO/Receiving Material Planning & Purchase Orders, Manufacturing Finite Schedule, Quality
- Key Documentation/Reference Info – Bank Build Form, Purchased Inventory Nomenclature
Training and Work experience requirements or preferred:
· A minimum of five years’ applicable work experience in direct materials purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
· Manufacturing ERP Software for Inventory, Sales/Distribution, PO/Receiving Material Planning & Purchase Orders, Scheduling, Quality
· Outstanding organizational and communication skills with ability to analyze information in establishing priorities for effective planning of resources.
· Experience with computer and/or computer related systems including Microsoft Office, MRP software.
Education Requirements
- Associated Degree in Business Administration or Related Preferred, High School Diploma or GED Required
- Proficient Computer Skills
