Role Description: The Material Specifications & Procurement Intern will support a critical project to review and update material specifications, ensuring accuracy and consistency across design and procurement functions. This role provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering and business, contributing to improved design assurance, procurement flexibility, and cost competitiveness.
Additional housing stipend from $1,500 to $3,000 depending on work and candidate's location.
Key Projects & Responsibilities:
- Review and update current material specifications to ensure they are accurate, consistent, and user-friendly for procurement teams.
- Standardize and simplify documentation for effective supplier engagement.
- Identify opportunities for cost competitiveness, leaner solutions, and standardization through Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, procurement, and other stakeholders, to align on requirements.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Analytical skills to review existing documentation and identify gaps or opportunities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across different teams.
- Basic knowledge of procurement principles and how specifications impact sourcing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and SharePoint.
- Enrolled in a relevant Bachelor's program at an accredited college/university.
