Job Description Summary
Organization's Summary Statement:The Department of Residential Facilities is responsible for the maintenance and housekeeping services for the College Park Campus' 70+ residence halls, Greek chapter houses, and recreational facilities encompassing over 2.7 million square feet. The department employs over 300 exempt, non-exempt and student staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Driver’s license with fewer than 6 points.
Be able to independently perform inspections and surveys to evaluate existing conditions, define project priorities and determine corrective strategies.
A thorough knowledge of commercial/institutional building material, equipment, finishes and systems.
The ability to: Work effectively and communicate with a wide range of customers including students, building/program staff and division officials; Review and evaluate drawings, specifications (Mech, Elec, Arch, etc.) and other contract documents; Plan and coordinate multiple and various projects/tasks involving multiple customers and tight deadlines; Analyze and interpret engineering reports and complex technical problems.
Proficiency in computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with management of building restoration, building systems,
retrofit and maintenance projects desirable.
Experience with Integrated Workplace Management Software Asset Works preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position requires working outdoors, in confined spaces, utility rooms, and at rooftop elevations to assess/inspect building conditions and construction sites in all types of weather. Incumbent will be required to access areas using ladders, scaffolding or lifts and to be on construction sites during periods of inclement weather and during weather related emergencies.
Position requires the following physical activities including kneeling, stooping, climbing, walking and lifting.
Licenses/Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering, construction management, architecture, business/Project management or related field.
Five years progressively responsible experience in project management, construction management or facilities management, with projects of comparable type, size and complexity. Three (3) years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication skills, leadership abilities,
Demonstrate proficiency in project planning, execution, and risk management.
Comprehensive knowledge of and skills in methods and techniques used in general mechanical, structural and maintenance trades.
Ability to read, interpret, and work on blueprints, drawings, specifications.
Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines
Proven success working with all levels of management
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint
