About the Role

The Vice President Information Technology (VP) is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational excellence, and transformation of enterprise technology infrastructure and IT operations across University Hospital. This executive oversees all core infrastructure services supporting clinical, business, and administrative operations, including enterprise networks, data centers, cloud platforms, servers, storage, telecommunications, end-user computing, and IT Service Desk operations. The VP develops and executes enterprise technology strategies focused on modernization, resiliency, scalability, security, and service excellence. This role provides leadership for infrastructure architecture, cloud transformation, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, operational standards, and technology lifecycle management to support the organization’s current and future needs. The VP serves as a key strategic partner to the CIO and executive leadership team, helping drive innovation, strengthen operational resilience, improve service delivery, and advance enterprise technology initiatives across the health system.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do  

  • Serves as an integral member of the IST leadership team to promote the mission and demonstrate the values and ethics of University Hospital.
  • Leads the overall strategy, design, and operation of enterprise IT infrastructure across the health system, including networks, servers, storage, data centers, cloud platforms, and end-user computing environments.
  • Oversees IT Service Desk operations to ensure high-quality, responsive, and consistent support for clinical, administrative, and business users.
  • Directs enterprise telecommunications and unified communications infrastructure, including voice, data, wireless, and collaboration platforms.
  • Develops and executes an enterprise cloud strategy, including migration, optimization, and long-term hybrid cloud architecture aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversees the architecture and operational performance of the hosted Epic environment and related clinical applications infrastructure.
  • Leads disaster recovery and business continuity planning, testing, and execution to ensure high availability and operational resilience across all critical systems.
  • Establishes infrastructure standards, architecture frameworks, and lifecycle management processes to ensure scalability, security, reliability, and cost-effective operations.
  • Leads infrastructure modernization initiatives focused on automation, standardization, and improved enterprise service delivery.
  • Monitors and improves IT operational performance through service level management, KPIs, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Partners with cybersecurity leadership to ensure infrastructure security, risk mitigation, and compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Leads vendor management for infrastructure, cloud, telecom, and service providers, ensuring performance, accountability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversees capacity planning, infrastructure budgeting, and capital investment strategy to support current and future organizational needs.
  • Provides executive leadership and mentoring to infrastructure, telecom, and service desk teams, building a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.
  • Acts as operational leader during major incidents, ensuring clear communication, coordination, and rapid restoration of services.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related technical discipline required. Master’s preferred.
  • Nine (9) years of progressive experience in enterprise infrastructure, technology operations, and IT engineering, including at least three (3) years in a senior leadership role overseeing large-scale infrastructure environments, preferably within a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise technology transformation initiatives, including cloud migration strategies, hybrid infrastructure environments, data center modernization, operational resiliency, and infrastructure standardization.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), ITIL, cloud, or related technical certifications are preferred.
  • Expert-level certification such as Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) (Enterprise Infrastructure, Data Center, or Security) preferred.
  • Preferred technical skills and experience with Cisco networking technologies, VMWare, Pure Storage, HCI and other related technologies.
