The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities

 

As a Part-Time Student - Data Science and Analytics for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group, you will...

 

  • Explore new analytical problems and develop creative solutions using data and analytics
  • Ingest, evaluate, and prepare data for use in algorithms and solutions
  • Support the development of machine learning models by preparing training data, running basic scripts, and conducting preliminary model training runs
  • Create analysis tools and dynamic visualizations to accelerate insight generation for our customers
  • Participate in testing and validating the accuracy and functionality of data pipelines and machine learning models
  • Research new analysis and visualization methodologies alongside domain subject matter experts from areas such as agronomy, engineering, and UX
  • Communicate findings and methodologies to stakeholders at multiple levels

 

This position is not available to students on immigration visas.

 

What Skills You Need

 

 

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program (Master's or Ph.D.) in a technical field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a U.S. accredited college/university 
  • Graduation date of May 2025 or later 
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above 
  • Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly
  • Available to work during the summer semester 35-40 hours/weekly
  • Strong foundation in programming languages like Python, essential for data manipulation, analysis, and model development
  • Proficiency in applying statistical methods and tools to analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to clean, transform, and prepare data for analysis, including handling missing values and outliers
  • Skilled in creating clear and informative visualizations (charts, graphs) to communicate data insights effectively
  • Familiarity with querying databases using SQL to retrieve and manipulate data
  • Familiarity with basic machine learning concepts and algorithms
  • Knowledge of deep learning architectures and their applications in various domains
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences and work effectively in a team environment
  • Enthusiasm for staying up-to-date with the latest trends, tools, and techniques in data science through independent learning and exploration
