C++ and C# Software Developer

Leidos Health & Civil Sector has an opening for a C++ and C# Software Developer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) Integration Support and Software Support Services program, contingent upon contract award.   This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping VA CMOP with its mission. 

Candidate must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a site clearance and pass the minimal background investigation by the Veterans Administration and MUST be located at one of the following locations:

the VA Great Lakes CMOP in Hines, IL; Southwest CMOP in Tucson, AZ; or Dallas CMOP in Lancaster, TX. 

The ideal candidate will have solid core development skills in C++ and C# in a Microsoft .NET environment, coupled with experience with SQL databases and Visual Studio.  Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation systems is a plus.   The ideal candidate will also have experience working in an Agile team environment using code delivery mechanisms such as Azure Dev Ops (ADO) and AWS.  The developer will work on a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to the sustainment support, enhancement and integration support, and standardization support for CMOP capabilities, along with analysts, developers, testers, production support staff, stakeholders, and external vendor partners.

The developer’s work will support VA CMOP at the VA CMOP-enterprise-level and at the local Great Lakes CMOP location, within a program team that designs and develops new applications, integrates new solutions into existing applications; and investigates and resolves software bugs and defects for production issues.  The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills to best support VA CMOP customer representatives and their supporting staff.   The developer will frequently support on-site testing of applications and other baseline changes. 

The candidate’s standard work hours will mirror those of the CMOP, generally from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The candidate’s work structure is three or more days per week on-site (CMOP), and the remainder of time will be remote telework.  There may be times when daily on-site work is required, depending upon the needs at the CMOP.   The Software Developer may be required to provide on-site support on nights, holidays, and weekends (on average once every two months).

Travel is not likely, but there is potential for limited travel to other VA CMOPs in Dallas, TX; Chelmsford, MA; Murfreesboro, TN; Hines, IL; and Tucson, AZ.  (< 10%).

**This position REQUIRES the candidate to be in person at the CMOP for two or more days per week**

Primary Responsibilities

• The candidate will be responsible for the provision of software design and development services in support of maintenance, enhancements and modernization of the CMOP facilities. The software is responsible for order management, inventory control, fulfilling activities and the interfaces with the equipment on the automation floor.
• The candidate should have the ability to quickly learn pharmaceutical production floor technologies, including control software development tools, sensors and automatic identification equipment and process control equipment.
• The candidate should have the ability to adequately document designs, coded solutions, and systems.
• Develop automated testing tools.
• Write technical specifications and system design documentation.
• Develop solutions that integrate with existing VA architecture.
• Program using industry standard methods.
• Requires knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
• Work in an Agile team environment with analysts, other developers, testers, production support staff, stakeholders, and external vendor partners.
• Work closely with other teams, support organizations, program and product management.
