As a Paramedic, you will provide immediate medical treatment to patients presenting with various critical injuries, illnesses and concerns. In this role, fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency. Your tireless efforts help improve outcomes and make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers.
A caregiver in this position works day/evenings from 11:00AM – 11:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Obtain and record vital signs.
Maintain equipment.
Assess nature and extent of illness/injury and patient history from available sources.
Determine appropriate independent or collaborative response.
Administer appropriate emergency medical care, including life support procedures, decontamination protocols, obtaining EKG readings and vital statistics monitoring.
Perform fluid/drug administration as needed.
Communicate with medical personnel at hospital, report/record observations and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital if on the Transport Team.
Navigate Ambulance to scene of accident in response to emergency call, if on the Transport Team.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Completion of an accredited program for licensure as an EMT-Paramedic
Current Florida licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training program
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
