Thin Films Process Engineering Intern
Polar SemiconductorAbout the role
JOB SUMMARY:
Polar Semiconductor builds integrated circuits and discreet devices serving the sensor, power, and high voltage markets. This internship will focus on thin film processes, materials, and deposition equipment that are used in the Aluminum interconnect modules of these technologies. The goal is to generate first principles understanding of materials, processes, and measurement techniques for these films, and then use that understanding to solve problems that will improve process stability, tool availability, and factory line yield.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead or support one or more of the following projects:
- Optimizing in situ chamber cleans for plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) process equipment
- Study the interactions between process conditions, chamber conditions, and other variables on physical characteristics of PECVD deposited thin films
- High density plasma (HDP) PECVD chamber matching
- Create Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy measurement models for several different materials
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Graduate student pursing a degree in Physics, Material Science, or Engineering
- Introductory course or lab work in semiconductor processing and/or plasma physics is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated independent achievement and teamwork capabilities
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Requires wearing walking and standing on cleanroom floors for prolonged
- Working in a cleanroom environment and wearing clean room attire (bunny suit, mask, gloves, protective eye wear and booties).
- Lift/carry 10 pounds at a time
- Must be able to read small print, with or without visual corrective lenses.
- Many wafer handling functions performed manually (i.e.: load, unload, transfer, transport, etc.) including operating hand-held devices such as keyboard, keypad, mouse/trackball, scanner and wand.
- Many tasks require two-handed grip/grasp on a frequent, to continuous, and daily basis.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Corporate and departmental orientations
- General: SPC, Annual Hazardous Waste and Right-to-Know, Annual EMS
- Other training, as assigned
