About the Opportunity

Summary:

University Health and Counseling services at Northeastern University is looking to hire a Full time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician’s assistant (PA) for the onsite health clinic. The NP or PA will function as an active and collaborative member of the University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) team serving both undergraduate and graduate students. The NP or PA delivers preventive care and episodic care for acute and chronic diseases.  Multiple opportunities also exist to provide education to university students through face-to-face interactions and campus activities. The NP or PA also participates in quality assessment of the work of the health center, collaborates with the health care team and serves as a resource to the nurses and medical assistants. 

This is a full-time position at 35 hours per week.  A four day a week or five day a week schedule may be possible. Schedule will include at least one evening per week and one Saturday (12-4) per month and a rotating schedule over holidays. Other shifts may also available.

Qualifications: 

• Certificate of Registration as a Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (For Physician Assistant - Bachelor's degree and graduation from Physician Asst. training program certified by the Board of Registration of Physician Assistants and passing of the certifying examination of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants). For NP’s, applicants with independent prescriptive authority preferred.  

• Massachusetts and Federal DEA certificates required. 

• Prior experience in primary care, particularly in student health is highly desirable. 

• Previous triage experience for acute medical issues in a college health setting is preferred. 

• Prior experience in gender affirming care, pregnancy options and medication abortion is preferred.  

• Experience in STI and Contraceptive Management Required 

• Demonstrated success in working inclusively in a highly diverse student setting preferred  

• Must demonstrate enthusiasm in the mission of providing for the prevention , management and treatment of the medical needs of Northeastern University students both individually and community-wide;  

• Demonstrated promptness in reporting and documentation; Excellent organizational skills; Ability to work with confidential and time sensitive information and materials; Excellent written and oral communication skills 

• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive team work environment; 

• Facility with consulting and providing supervision and education to clinical colleagues as well as community clinicians, University staff and faculty, student organizations and partner institutions.
