Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist to be based in our Newark, DE office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line.
This position is expected to begin August/September 2023.
Job Overview:
The Entry-Level Environmental Scientist will assist our Remediation team both in the field and in office, supporting soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects. The ideal candidate will be willing and able to learn new skills and methods on challenging field and office assignments in a collaborative team environment.
We are seeking a candidate who is an excellent communicator and technically capable. The successful candidate will work under the oversight of an experienced field team of engineers, scientists, and technicians on environmental remedial cleanup and monitoring projects. This position will involve field and office responsibilities with potential for growth.
The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting environmental field work, including collecting soil, groundwater, and remediation system data, groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging and oversight of field surveys, drilling, well installation, development operations and utility clearance for intrusive operations.
- Field document preparation, field data collection, processing, and interpretation.
- Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Soil Sciences, or related field.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates with HAZWOPER 40-hour training are preferred for this role
- Candidates who are proficient in Microsoft Office are preferred for this role
- Candidates who are excellent in oral and written communication skills are preferred for this role.
- Some related work experience is preferred for this role

- Travel is required for this position. This position will be subject to a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Screening.
- This is an in-office/hybrid remote position. Candidates are expected to reside in the Newark, DE area or relocate if necessary.
