If so, we would love to see your background! The Solution Engineering team at Guidewire is just as much of a software development team as it is an extension of Solution Consulting. You would be a part of a team that delivers complex software requirements to meet emerging and evolving market demands.
Our team is responsible for delivering creative, solution-focused demonstration implementations to the Sales organization for presentation to prospective customers. We are currently growing our team to dedicate more time and effort to support our sales efforts.The position involves working directly with members of the Solution Consulting and development team to configure our complex solution demonstrations that include country specific localizations. In this role we look for critical problem solvers - people who can rapidly consume domain knowledge and design and configure comprehensive functionality in Guidewire’s suite of products. We place a high value on being able to contribute to a fast paced environment in a multitude of development related tasks.
The successful candidate will have 3+ years of software development experience or configuring packaged application software with an ability to grow in to a product lead position. You must be a self-starter and able to perform with minimal direction while working in a diverse team environment following Agile processes for software development. You must have strong technical skills, such as the ability to code in a front-end or back-end programming language or full-stack, debug complex issues, or troubleshoot environment configuration issues, knowledge and experience on Cloud Data and Analytics Solutions
Although this is not a customer facing role, it may require you to craft, develop, and configure creative innovative solutions according to prospects’ requirements, then sell your idea to Guidewire's internal users. A typical candidate for this role should be comfortable multi-tasking. Be able to remove blockers from dependencies, have strong problem solving skills and has a Computer Science degree or equivalent

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the Solution Consulting team to implement new features requirements gathering through implementation, testing, and delivery from beginning to end 
  • Work directly with the Solution Consulting team to operate the environment request,
  • trouble shooting the operational and functional issues during the demo preparation
  • Own, troubleshoot & resolve defects
  • Collaborate with other Development organizations, Delivery Service organizations within the company - providing feature demos and documentation, participating in joint hands-on working sessions, hackathon, etc.
  • Meet strict timelines and deliverables
  • Documentation and Knowledge sharing with the team

What you would need to succeed:

  • Programming experience in J2EE, Servlet, JSP, Velocity, Spring framework
  • Object oriented programming fundamentals (inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, etc.)
  • Familiar with Front-end technology, Javascript (Specially in React), Html, XML
  • Source Control and Collaborative Development Workflow (GIT, Github, Bitbucket)
  • Understand agile development methodology
  • Integration mechanisms (messaging, synchronous, asynchronous, REST API,
  • etc.)
  • CloudOps/DevOps Experience
  • Cloud services (AWS or Google)
  • Docker, K8s
  • CI and CD frameworks (Jenkins, Team City)
  • Database
  • PostgreSQL
  • Experience in data warehouse, BI tools
  • Software testing and test frameworks

Bonus skills:

  • Hands-on experience in Guidewire Products
  • Property and Casualty Insurance Industry Experience (or even life/health)
  • Experience in SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, FaaS
  • Programming experience in ES6+, Typescript, React (Native), Spring Boot, Node.js, etc.
  • Micro Service, cloud native software development experience
  • GO, Ruby
  • RDS, DynamoDB, NoSQL
  • OpenAI, Machine Learning, Python, NLP
