Senior Project Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity as a Senior Project Engineer/Project Specialist. This role is based in our Huntsville, Alabama location and reports to the Project Engineering Manager.

Job Summary

This role will report directly to the Project Engineering Manager and support the project engineering team across IPEX Locations. This role requires the incumbent to have experiences in project leadership, stakeholder management, strategic planning, problem solving, quality assurance, and process improvement. The work will be in both the plants and corporate office with close collaboration across departments such as operations, maintenance, quality control, health and safety, logistics, etc. 

Principal Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the execution of complex engineering projects, including managing resources, budgets, and timelines. 

• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior project engineers, fostering their professional development and ensuring project success. 

• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities. 

• Contribute to the development of project strategies and goals, aligning them with broader organizational objectives. 

• Tackle complex engineering challenges, make critical decisions, and resolve technical issues that arise during project implementation. 

• Implement quality control measures, review design, and construction documentation, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards. 

• Identify areas for process optimization, propose innovative solutions, and implement best practices to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness. 

Qualifications & experience

• More than 5 years of progressive experience in engineering, in a manufacturing environment or in a related field.  Or 3+ years’ experience plus an official engineer’s title. 

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. 

• Knowledge of extrusion and plastic molding equipment would be an asset.  

• Highly motivated, versatile, and dedicated.  

• Ability to work independently, with strong skills in personal motivation. 

• Excellent skills in customer relationship management. 

• Rigor and strong organizational skills. 

• Skilled in managing internal and external teams. 

• Capacity to learn in a changing and technological environment. 

• PVC, PMP is an asset 

• Skilled communicator, with strong teamwork values. 

• Good knowledge of software such as AutoCAD and the Office suite. 

• General knowledge of mechanical concepts, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
