Cost Accountant

Purpose
Assists with accounting and financial analysis in compliance with GAAP and Save A Lot internal policies. Owns and contributes to processes and/or portions of processes. Interfaces with all levels of the company in addressing financial questions, results, variances and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepares journal entries along with support for assigned accounts
• Reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts and takes quick actions to resolve reconciling items
• Evaluates and recommends enhancements to processes, procedures, and internal controls
• Interacts with internal stakeholders in responding to inquiries or report requests
• Identifies issues, works to determine root cause, and formulates resolutions to present to Supervisor then implements agreed upon resolution
• Extracts large data sets from multiple systems then manipulates, analyzes, identifies insights, and reports findings to accounting and functional customers
• Other accounting tasks as identified and assigned by people leader

About You
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or an equivalent amount of experience is required
• 1-3 or more years of Accounting and/or Financial Analysis experience
• Solid data analysis skills with the ability to dive into the details yet cull out the key takeaways
• Experience understanding the financial impact of transactions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively toa wide variety of people
• Ableto work effectively with cross-functional teams within Corporate, Warehouse, and Store organizations
• Very strong Excel and data manipulation skills with passion to maintain accuracy and data integrity
• Self-starter and comfortable working in a fast-paced open work environment to achieve desired results
• Experience working with integrated systems, relational databases, and reporting tools such as Oracle and Power BI

Physical Requirements

• Ability to travel up to ~10% of the time, which may include weekends and evenings, as needed
• Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment
• Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal
• Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday
• Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
