Summary: The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing key financial functions to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and stability of the manufacturing plant’s financial operations. This role drives the monthly closing process, manages standard costing and inventory controls, oversees fixed assets, and supports manufacturing budget performance. In addition, the Accounting Manager ensures timely and accurate financial reporting to the parent company while developing and guiding the Accounting team to maintain strong internal controls and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and control the monthly financial close process, including review, reconciliation, and variance analysis.
- Oversee fixed asset and inventory controls, ensuring accuracy, reconciliation, and compliance.
- Oversee daily and monthly budget control for manufacturing operations, including monitoring cost performance and identifying variances.
- Oversee and manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, including reconciliation, review, and approval of journal entries to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Prepare and report financial results to the parent company in a timely and accurate manner
- Manage all costing functions, including product costing, standard cost maintenance, and cost analysis.
- Supervise, train, and develop Accounting team members to support departmental performance and growth.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of manufacturing accounting principles, including product costing, standard cost management, and variance analysis.
- Strong understanding of financial close processes, general ledger controls, and financial statement review.
- Ability to manage plant-wide physical inventory and fixed asset controls with accuracy and compliance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial fluctuations and support operational decision-making.
- Demonstrated leadership capability with experience developing and guiding accounting staff
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial results to plant leadership and corporate stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interact and work as a team within all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business-related field required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a CPA required.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory management experience required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience within an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (Dynamics 365 AX).
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
