Please note that this position is based in San Diego, CA. Acadia's hybrid model requires this role to work in our office three days per week on average.
The Senior Manager, Cost Accounting manages cost accounting, accounting, supporting/managing ERP and other system implementations, and manages many aspects of the general ledger, close and reporting processes, while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and company policies and procedures.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Cost Accounting responsibilities including maintaining inventory valuation
- Subject matter expert for inventory and costing methodology
- Determine financial statement classification of inventory and work in process inventory
- Manages process of inventory movement to new ERP system
- Supports/manages various ERP implementation activities
- Manages inventory reporting and analysis to support accounting and finance
- Supports/manages overhead application to inventory process
- Assists in inventory forecasting as needed
- Prepares periodic and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis
- Manages and coordinates month-end close activities
- Assists and prepares monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, which may include those related clinical trials and inventory
- Contract review and working with legal department to ensure contract administration processes are completed timely
- Reviews schedules, reports, journal entries and account reconciliations as necessary
- Assists with and reviews the semi-monthly payroll
- Engages with external and internal auditors to address audit requirements
- Assists with the external reporting function of the Company’s SEC reporting requirements, including document drafting and tie-out as necessary
- Assists with the Company’s SOX compliance efforts, including updating the Company’s internal control documentation
- Monitors accounting operations to ensure compliance with policies, practices and procedures
- Identify process improvements and automation of activities
- Assists with technical accounting research guidance as necessary
- Recommends accounting practices and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible related experience. CPA required. MBA or other professional certificates a plus. An equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered
- Cost accounting experience required
- ERP experience required; experience with Great Plains/Microsoft Dynamics and Management Reporter preferred; NetSuite a plus
- ERP implementation experience required; NetSuite a plus
- Experience working in the life science industry is preferred
- Experience with clinical trial accounting is preferred
- Sarbanes-Oxley and PCAOB internal controls knowledge
- Knowledge of SEC Reporting and US GAAP
- CPA required
- Self-motivated with strong integrity, organizational skills and attention to detail
Physical Requirements:
This role involves regular standing, walking, sitting, and the use of hands for handling or operating equipment. The employee may also need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and maintain visual, verbal, and auditory communication both in a standard office environment and while working independently from remote locations. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. This position requires the ability to travel independently overnight and/or work after hours as required by travel schedule or business needs
