Job Summary:

The Assistant Store Lead supports the Store Lead in all aspects of store operations, including customer service, team leadership, inventory management, and compliance. This role helps ensure a positive shopping experience for pet parents and a productive, engaging environment for team members. The Assistant Store Lead also steps in as the acting manager when the Store Lead is unavailable.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision

• Assist in recruiting, training, and developing store team members.
• Provide daily direction and coaching to team members.
• Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
• Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service.

Store Operations

• Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and reporting.
• Oversee merchandising, inventory control, and product replenishment.
• Maintain store cleanliness, safety, and organization.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations, including pet care standards.

Customer Experience

• Ensure a friendly, knowledgeable, and pet-focused shopping experience.
• Resolve customer concerns and escalate issues when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming store environment.
• Support community engagement and in-store events.

Administrative Duties

• Handle cash management, bookkeeping, and shift reports.
• Assist with scheduling and timecard management.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2+ years of retail experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for pets and customer service.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Must be able to work days and evenings
• Must be able to work holidays
