Project Overview
Bechtel is partnering with NextDecade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas.
RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth. At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Brownsville, Texas is a city known for its diverse history, tradition, and rich culture. Located in the southernmost region in the beautiful state of Texas, lays Brownsville a rich, tropical oasis bordering the Rio Grande River and near the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. Position Summary
Responsible for the organization and direction of construction engineering personnel and activities relating to construction engineering, subcontracts, and engineering liaison to the design functional group. Interprets design drawings and specifications. Supervises field verification of materials. Provides technical direction to construction engineers and superintendents in a wide range of construction engineering and design functions relating to multi-discipline engineering in an area or to a single discipline on the overall project.
Responsibilities
- Manages all field engineering process and procedures to ensure project, code and corporate compliance. Leads the planning and execution of Site Surveys for the Construction function.
- Assists in the development of the Field Engineering organizational. Performs all delegated personnel evaluations for field engineering and support staff.
- Ensures that field engineering and support staff are developing skill sets that align with Bechtel’s and the individual’s career goal.
- Ensures procedures align with Bechtel functional requirements and coordinates functional approvals.
- Generates site specific procedures as required to assure construction operations conform to engineering design and specifications and unique customer or regulatory requirements as applicable.
- Responsible for the day to day management of the Construction Work Package process to ensure timely deliverables (material, inspection records, packages, etc.) to field personnel.
- Coordinates with Supervision to plan construction activities for immediate (4 Week) and long range planning (90/180/270 day) activities.
- Provides day to day oversight of the Construction Field Change/ Non-Conformance process and performs trend analysis on a periodic basis.
- Ensures the timely execution of the Quantity Reporting program within the Construction function including control and reporting of weekly construction quantities.
- Oversees the Issues Management team for Construction including the creation/closure of corrective action plans (CAPs) and Condition Reports (CRs) as applicable.
- Helps coordinate and manage the field engineering turnover process and deliverables with the Start Up in preparation for system turnovers.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or similar and 13 years of experience or 19 years related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment, education and travel.
