A Taste of What You’ll Do
As a Lab Tech Associate, you will play an important role in supporting the production of high‑quality winery products by performing physical and chemical analysis on grapes, grape products, alcoholic beverages, water, and related materials. You’ll help ensure that winemakers and operational teams receive accurate, timely data that directly contributes to product quality and consistency.
In this role, you’ll support microbiological functions including plate reading, sample plating, sanitation monitoring, and media preparation. You’ll maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment while adhering to established safety practices. Your day-to-day work will also involve preparing standard solutions, collecting and delivering samples from production areas, maintaining timely and accurate data entry in the laboratory information management system, and assisting with routine reporting.
You will collaborate closely with laboratory and production partners and contribute ideas that help strengthen lab practices. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment, embraces learning, and takes pride in supporting high-quality winemaking operations.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor's Degree OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 3 years GALLO experience OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 3 years winery or vineyard experience.
- Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.
- Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
- Required to maintain 3 shift availability (day, swing, and graveyard); required to work overtime when necessary; required to work weekends when necessary.
- Required to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Required to stand for long periods of time.
- Required to be at least 21 years of age.
- Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
- Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
How You’ll Stand Out
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or Biochemistry plus lab support or quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting lab equipment.
- Experience operating machines and equipment such as a manual-shift motor scooter, computer and various meters and testing devices.
- Skilled in the use of MS Word and Excel
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
