Department Summary

The Educator Preparation Program at UNT is committed to preparing future teachers in progressively field-based learning environments. Teacher candidate preparation culminates with the supervised clinical teaching semester in EC-12 classrooms in area public schools.

The College of Education Clinical Practice Office supports this goal through partnerships with district and schoolteachers and administrators to provide field-based preparation opportunities for both undergraduate and post baccalaureate students seeking initial teacher certification.

Position Overview

This position has primary responsibility for the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of field experiences and clinical practice placements in area schools and districts for all educator preparation program certification candidates at UNT. This position requires ongoing contact with internal and external constituents to fulfill the goal of the constant improvement of educator preparation at UNT.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's in Education or related field with successful role-related experience. Evidence of leadership in school districts or teacher prep, and 3 years in public school or district admin role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with the Texas Administrative Code.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Canvas and Microsoft Office including Access, TEAMS, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Teacher Education or related field is strongly preferred. Successful experience in an educator preparation program.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Certification or eligibility for certification as a Teacher in the State of Texas. Possession of a valid Texas driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment; ability to drive a vehicle and maintain coverage under University liability insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.

Job Duties:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for school and district administrators, teachers, UNT faculty, staff, and students for all field based and clinical practice educator preparation courses and experiences.
  • Actively engage in outreach to develop and sustain partnerships with area schools and districts to enhance students placement opportunities for field experience and clinical placements that reflect student, faculty, and program goals.
