Position Summary:

Generate Biomedicines is looking for an experienced Senior Manager of Contracts to join its legal team and play a central role in Generate’s legal organization. Reporting to the Senior Director of Contracting and Legal Operations, this position will help support contracts operations in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various agreements related to Generate’s corporate and R&D efforts. The successful candidate will work with company business and R&D partners to draft agreements and negotiate terms with for-profit and non-profit groups (vendors, CROs, academic laboratories, etc.), coordinate the final execution of the agreements, and maintain the contract tracking and compliance system. The successful candidate will work closely with Generate’s business and research teams, legal team, external parties, and the finance department. This position will require working under tight timelines.

As Senior Manager of Contracts you will:

• Manage the Contract lifecycle, including but not limited to: draft, modification, execution, amendments and renewal of Contracts
• Preparation and review of all contract documentation, including, CDAs, Master agreements, Statements of work, Renewals, Amendments, etc. with the appropriate vendor(s) or other parties
• Negotiation of legal terms and review of scopes of work with a goal of quality assurance
• Dissemination of contract documents to the appropriate parties, externally and internally
• Maintenance of a centralized file, storage and documentation system for all contract-related material
• Updates of contract templates and generation of exhibits
• Be responsible for mutually agreed areas of expertise within the Legal team.
• Manage key contract data for Generate, such as contract’s expiration and other key terms and reporting on contracts metrics.
• Maintain updated files and prepare reports as required.

To be successful in this role, you have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree and preferably a JD
• 5+ years of contracts negotiation experience
• The ability to liaison with senior level partners
• The ability to manage a large number of highly diverse contracts
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with standard office software applications (MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
• The ability to work well independently and with others
• Effective cross-disciplinary communication skills and an eagerness to creatively engage the Generate legal team, scientists, and business leaders to fully understand complex issues and craft innovative solutions
• The intellectual curiosity and drive to offer comprehensive solutions to the teams you work with
• The demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in academic contracting/technology transfer offices or pharmaceutical/biotech companies
• Experience working with external groups towards a goal where timelines are met
• A proven track record of building relationships with cross functional stakeholders
