Job Description
The Decarbonization & AI Solutions Intern will support the development of digital tools and AI-driven solutions that accelerate GE Vernova’s decarbonization efforts. This role combines technical expertise in AI with a deep understanding of sustainability principles to create innovative applications for reducing emissions across operations, products, and supply chains. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement proof-of-concept solutions that leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and optimization models.
Project Outcomes:
Assist in building AI models to analyze emissions data, forecast reductions, and optimize energy use.
Support the development of decision-support tools for decarbonization strategies.
Integrate relevant sustainability datasets into machine learning pipelines for actionable insights.
Conduct research on emerging AI techniques for carbon tracking, lifecycle analysis, and energy efficiency.
Work with stakeholders to validate models and ensure alignment with business decarbonization goals.
Primary Skills Developed:
AI-Driven Emissions Analytics Tool – A prototype tool that predicts emissions trends and identifies high-impact reduction opportunities using ML algorithms.
Carbon Optimization Engine – A model that optimizes energy usage and resource allocation for minimal carbon impact.
Integrated Emissions Dataset – A consolidated database of operational and supply chain carbon data for AI applications.
Proof-of-Concept AI Use Cases – Documented scenarios where AI supports carbon neutrality strategies (e.g., renewable integration, load balancing).
Scalability & Implementation Plan – Recommendations for integrating AI-driven solutions into GE Vernova’s decarbonization roadmap.
Internship Term Dates:
May/June - August 2026
Qualifications:
Pursuing a Master’s degree, MBA, or Doctorate in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Minimum GPA 4.0 / 5.0 scale.
Proven experience or coursework in modeling, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or natural language processing.
Demonstrated familiarity with sustainability concepts, including Greenhouse Gas accounting and emissions reduction strategies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Desired Qualifications:
Prior internship or research experience in sustainability, climate solutions, AI, or digital transformation projects.
Experience developing conversational AI solutions, chatbots, or related applications.
Hands-on proficiency with programming languages such as Python, and relevant AI/NLP libraries.
Hands on experience with Greenhouse Gas Accounting, carbon forecasting, or environmental impact modeling.
Knowledge of data integration, database management, and data privacy/security best practices.
Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary or cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with user experience (UX) design principles, especially for digital tools in sustainability.
Passion for advancing the energy transition and supporting climate action through innovative solutions.
