What You’ll Do

Summary/Objective:

The Fraud Detection Team Leader is responsible for participating in the credit union’s on-going efforts to minimize risk and potential loss by supervising all activities related to fraud control and loss prevention.

Essential Functions:

  • Coach and mentor direct reports
  • Create and facilitate trainings including but not limited to: fraud detection and reporting, red flag programs, ID theft programs, new account opening programs. and new hire fraud/LP training
  • Identify, analyze, respond to, and monitor fraud trends and make justifiable recommendations as appropriate to tighten/loosen controls.
  • Ensure adherence to the credit union’s Bank Secrecy Act and Identity Theft Programs including the timely filing of all appropriate Suspicious Activity Reports
  • Research, resolve, and document any events stemming from process or control weaknesses and breakdowns resulting in potential or actual losses and report them to management
  • Assist with internal and external investigations of theft/fraud, and work with necessary departments, law enforcement, and courts as necessary
  • Manage working relationships with pertinent vendors (e.g. Red Hawk, Verafin)
  • Complete all required Bank Secrecy Act related training annually and maintain an ongoing in-depth knowledge of DCU BSA policies and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

  •  Minimum of 3-5 years of fraud investigation
  • Strong supervisory skills
  • Previous experience in the field of financial risk management a plus
