South College DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program (NAP) is searching for a qualified full-time faculty member who will enter at the rank of assistant/associate/full professor, commensurate with level of experience.  This full-time faculty member will be the Director of Simulation Education, overseeing the incorporation of skills lab/simulation activities across the program curriculum. The full-time faculty member will collaborate with the DNP NAP team to teach didactic courses delivered in a hybrid manner (a mix of intensive on-campus sessions and synchronous/asynchronous distance education) at the graduate/doctoral level; engage in scholarship and mentorship/advisement to students, both as regular faculty mentors, and as DNP scholarly project committee memberships/chair; and provide service to the program and South College in the form of institutional work, community and professional service, advocacy and scholarship. 

This position requires an on-ground appointment at South College – Knoxville Campus due to the need for an on-campus presence related to the responsibilities included in this faculty position. These include, but are not limited to: planning, organization, and execution of mandatory skills training and simulation programming, simulation equipment maintenance/testing/new staff onboarding, and staffing the scheduled on-campus intensive learning sessions for the residents. 

Responsibilities:

• Oversight of the incorporation of skills lab/simulation activities across the program curriculum. 
• Oversight of the supply/operational details of the skills/simulation lab at South College DNP NAP.
• Participating in simulation lab training and opportunities as needed.
• Teaching, course design/development/implementation/program assessment at the doctoral/graduate level.
• Research/scholarship, and service as faculty mentor and advisor for doctoral students’ DNP scholarly projects.
• Assisting with curriculum development and clinical oversight of students as needed.
• Participating in annual admissions applications evaluations and candidate interviews.
• Representing the program at local, state, and national meetings.
• Assisting in the advancement of the nurse anesthesia programs and South College’s mission and vision.
• Maintenance of clinical practice as a CRNA, via provided clinical release days specified in offer letter, which do not interfere with the agreed upon teaching schedule, faculty responsibilities, and intensive session weeks.

Requirements

• An earned DNP, DNAP, or PhD from a regionally accredited institution/program preferred.
• Three or more years of clinical experience in the certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) role.
• Experientially qualified or certified in simulation education/pedagogy preferred.
• Evidence of formal instruction in curriculum development, evaluation and instruction, to meet specialty accreditation standards (may be completed upon hire).
• Minimum of two years’ experience of teaching/education experience preferred.
• CHSE or CHSE-A certification preferred.
• Experience in distance education instructional methods is preferred. 
• Current unrestricted license to practice as RN/advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in his/her state of residence, as necessary to function clinically as a CRNA in compliance with relevant state law… or eligibility for such licensure.
• Current certification/recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Effective communication skills.
