Role Description
THIS INTERNSHIP IS FOR THE PHILADELPHIA DIVERSITY LAW GROUP (“PDLG”) FELLOWS PROGRAM.
The Fellow will work during regular business hours of Comcast's legal department to gain substantive in-house experience in corporate practice. They will support a variety of substantive legal areas within the legal department including Corporate Transactions, Commercial Transactions, Commercial Litigation, IP Transactions and Litigation, Product Counseling, Regulatory Compliance and Employment. To be successful, this individual must proactively and creatively address the needs of various legal groups. The Fellow will have dedicated supervisor responsible for coordinating their work assignments. In addition to his or her job as Fellow, the student would participate in various training seminars through including learning modules, workshops, panels, networking events and pro bono services.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in drafting of legal documents
- Participating in internal meetings, meetings with outside counsel, opposing counsel, regulatory bodies
- Researching legal questions and drafting memos
- Identify opportunities for internal process improvements
- Support other special projects or assignments as assigned
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred Skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communications, ability to work both independently and with a team, willingness to assist in areas outside of direct assignments when necessary, and commitment to self‐improvement and completion of team objectives.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines with consistently high‐quality work product.
- A keen attention to detail.
- Prior experience working for or with attorneys a plus.
- Experience with the preparation of presentations/slide decks, metrics, and written reports.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze facts and identify issues, collect data/evidence, and draw valid conclusions.
- Preferred Majors: Bachelor’s degree and enrollment in law school required. Fellow must be nominated by PDLG.
