About the role

Coordinates non-instructional components of the skills and simulation laboratory and serves as a liaison to nursing courses through the Program Directors and Course Leads. Reports directly to the Associate Dean, Nursing.

Coordinates non-instructional components of the skills and simulation laboratory and serves as a liaison to nursing courses through the Program Directors and Course Leads.

• Coordinates scheduling of all skills and simulation activities for students.

• Contributes to annual budget development by making recommendations related to supplies and equipment.

• Monitor and order supplies and maintain equipment in skills and simulation labs.

• Schedules all  skills  and  simulation  laboratory  experiences  for  clinical nursing courses.

Participates in simulation by preparing and operating the simulation equipment.

 

Participate in strategies to maintain high quality educational outcomes.

• Ensures effectiveness and efficiency of the skills and simulation laboratory through activities such as but not limited to orientation of faculty and staff to new  equipment   and  usage  in   the  classroom  and   clinical  settings

• Assists students during skills lab practice time.

• Coordinates CPR training for students.

 

Participation in governance.

• Attends institutional, course, task forces/work group, ad hoc committees, and committee meetings as scheduled.

• Completes  course,   task  forces/work  group,   ad  hoc  committees   and committee assignments in a thorough, timely manner.

 

Contributes to the operational effectiveness of the college.

• Attends required events such as Graduation, Orientation, etc.

• Contributes to developing strategies which improve quality initiatives such as improved customer service, improving cost effectiveness, etc.

• Collaborates with skills/simulation peers as well as TCH liaisons to foster the development of simulation.

• Participates in student orientation.

• Participates in recruiting efforts.

 

Role models professional growth and development.

• Maintains    active membership  in        selected        professional  nursing organizations.

• Maintains active licensure(s) as required.

• Attends Faculty Development seminars/workshops and in services.

• Seeks new learning opportunities through scholarly endeavors.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

 

EDUCATION:

• Completion of an approved professional nursing education program.

• A Bachelor of Science degree

• A Masters degree with a major in an appropriate area related to adult education is preferred.

 

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

• Experience of at least two years in the practice of professional nursing is required.

• Teaching experience preferred.

• Membership in professional nursing organizations (expected following appointment).

• Participation in social and civic organizations (encouraged following appointment).

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

 

 

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

Current, active licensure as an RN in Ohio.  BLS certification may be required.
