Job Duties

DPOR is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the agency’s Information Security Officer (ISO) to support the agency’s responsibility to secure and safeguard IT systems and applications, data and other IT assets. The ISO will serve as DPOR's LASO (Local Agency Security Officer) for access to the Virginia State Police's VCIN (Virginia Criminal Information Network) system. The ISO is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive information security program in accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia information security standards and emerging trends. This position regularly reports to the Agency Director and Executive Management team on a comprehensive plan that demonstrates the level of agency compliance with COV IT policies and standards, as well as on the ISO’s efforts and results of those efforts to bring about compliance. The ISO produces needed information security policies and procedures and updates them as required and verifies that all agency IT systems are appropriately classified and protected with regard to sensitivity. This position mitigates and reports all IT security incidents in accordance with the Code of Virginia and VITA requirements and demonstrates that appropriate actions are taken to prevent recurrence. The ISO ensures that agency staff are aware of and acknowledge agency IT policies and procedures and complete required IT security awareness training within required timeframes. This position consistently attends VITA offered and required information security sessions and briefs agency director and executive management team on initiatives, risks and opportunities at these sessions.

TELEWORK OPTIONS: Please note that this position may be eligible for limited telework and is not a full-time telework position. Upon hire into this position, the agency requires the incumbent to be in the position for 90 days before a specific telework schedule may be submitted for consideration.

Minimum Qualifications

• Significant experience as an IT Security Analyst or ISO or performing progressively more advanced IT security roles.
• Progressive leadership in a large-scale, complex IT environment.
• Extensive experience in project management and the management and oversight of technology security programs, practices, and policies, including areas related to network security, risk assessment/mitigation, and operations.

Additional Considerations

• Thorough working knowledge of the Commonwealth of Virginia information security policies and standards.
• Ability to draft, review, and recommend revisions to information system policies and practices.
• Ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis on proposals and strategies.
