Schedule: Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am-6:00 pm CTS.
The Pharmacy Technician II Specialty will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in the performance of moderately complex technical and clerical duties involved in the daily operations of the Pharmacy, as allowed by law and/or regulation.
How you will make an impact:
- Assists the pharmacist with dispensing items a physician orders to a valid prescription adhering to the appropriate guidelines and policies.
- Check for expired / unusable products and disposes of them properly.
- Answers and initiates communications related to providing pharmaceutical care.
- Prepares delivery tickets.
- Assists the patient delivery representative in orders, receiving, maintaining, and tracking all infusion-related equipment.
- Fulfills the duties of the patient delivery representative when required.
- Mixing technician for compounding all sterile IV products such as: Antibiotics, TPN, inotropes, pain bags, hydration, push meds.
- Mix pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions.
- Utilize low, medium, and high risk compounding techniques.
- Completes daily cleaning, monthly cleaning, in-process cleaning, equipment calibration.
- Follows a process to minimize mis-fills, product waste, and HIPAA violations.
- Checks and maintains inventory levels; places inventory orders, logs in new inventories.
- Documents all activities appropriately.
- Completes negative counts, daptomycin add-backs, and wholesaler orders promptly.
- Completes drug expiration review monthly.
- Assists with any inventory-related questions from team members daily and during quarterly inventory.
- Dispenses to patients and completes assessments.
- Dispenses for active patients by established cut-off times.
- May be responsible for overnight deliveries.
- Able to troubleshoot pump issues without assistance from team members or supervisors.
- Follows up on hospitalization and pending pump pick-up report.
- Follows correct process to minimize mis-fills, unscheduled deliveries, waste of product, and HIPAA violations.
- Documents QARs/indicators appropriately in the portal without prompts.
- Maximizes the efficiency and productivity of the pharmacy and delivery operations.
- Strives to achieve cost effectiveness in all areas (including purchasing, inventory control, staffing delivery services).
- Available to work "on call" as needed.
- Associates in this role are expected to keep up with continuing education necessary to maintain current licensure in all states licensed and maintain a current pharmacy technician certificate where required by law and/or regulation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Requires a minimum 2 years experience as a pharmacy technician with training/experience in alternate site/home health pharmacy practice and the preparation of sterile products.
- Requires a current, active, valid and unrestricted Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate and/or license.
- Maintain a current pharmacy technician certificate where required by law and/or regulation.
- Multi-state certification is required if this individual is providing services in multiple states.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
- ACPE IV certification preferred.
Direct patient communication experience preferred.
Insurance, PBM, and/or major medical claims experience highly preferred.
Specialty, retail, and/or mail order pharmacy experience highly preferred.
- For Paragon and Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position. <
