We are currently enabling a gradual transformation of Retail and Corporate Banking segments in OP Financial Group. Transformation is enabled by shared core banking system and other system upgrades. As the name suggest, Core Banking System tribe is responsible of OP's new core banking system and successful transformation, also known as Valas, as a whole.
We´re now fitting this new system into OP's technology environment. In a such major transformation, data plays a critical role. For this reason, we are seeking a Product Owner to manage the data area of the transformation.

In this role, you will be responsible of the existing Operational Data Storage (ODS) solution and its development. This solution, has been built as part of the transformation. Additionally, you´ll be liable of its direct data utilization, feeding the data to OP‘s centralized Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) solution, as well as Banking Data Platform (BDP).
In addition to leading the ODS and BDP related data development work, which is being implemented in 1-2 development teams in our Core Banking System tribe, you will work on improving the data governance of Valas transformation and will also hold data owner roles for the data owned by our tribe. You ensure company-wide data governance practices being applied by establishing and maintaining unified data governance processes, procedures, documentation and data quality measures that are vital to the ongoing development of the core banking system.
You´ll own and manage the ODS and BDP solution product backlog in the transformation, also ensuring alignment with architecture and its business utilization. You establish a workplan and align it with the overall transformation roadmap., You steer the teams on the execution and track the progress, making actions to correct the direction upon a need. In this role, you´ll communicate and work closely with your own tribe members as well as professionals of other OP tribes and partners involved.
Core skills we believe will be needed in this role:
- Data area expertise from either implementation or data owner aspects
- Product Backlog Management
- Strong project management or agile lead experience
- Work planning and reporting skills
- Proactive, systematic, and result-oriented mindset
- Excellent facilitation skills
- Utilizing skills of Jira and Confluence
- Familiarity with data governance practices, data-related regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, Basel III)
- Communication skills in English are a must, fluency in Finnish is an advantage
- Domain experience in Core Banking and in either Loans or Accounts areas is an advantage
