POSITION SUMMARY:
The Payroll Specialist will provide input and support for all steps required to ensure “zero defect” of the weekly payroll cycle; having arears of strength in the payroll end-end processing, while obtaining knowledge in other arears for growth. Specialist will communicate with various team members, business partners, and outfitters through written and/or collaborative verbal opportunities. Ensure payroll is consistently accurate and timely while maintaining a focus on providing quality customer service by responding to and resolving payroll-related inquiries in a timely manner, providing follow-up communication, as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Input, review, and audit timekeeping and other payroll-related records
- Knowledgeable in Kronos and the system functionality. Efficiently understand the existing entries, inputs requirements, audits, reporting and approval for timekeeping system.
- Process special or exception items including variable rates, tips, reversals, voids, deductions, and other activities with minimal oversite.
- Audit ensuring data accuracy for new hire, job change, salary actions, termination, and other payroll and employment related documents as received to the payroll department for expected paycheck results.
- Audit and communicate results to the appropriate Supervisor/Manager to ensure timely updates related to missing time punches, time-off request, and time clock schedules.
- Support with on-cycle, off-cycle, and bonus payrolls on weekly basis ensuring timeliness and accuracy for: time file batches, historical/retro activities, termination payments, adjustments, and supplemental payments Ensure payroll registers, reports and variance are correct and approved by manager before final calculation and submission for gross to net calculation.
- Support maintaining all updates and documents related to Payroll audits, workflows, and procedures.
- Support OSV and Freshservice cases and resolution of payroll related tickets to achieve timely resolutions.
- Receive, review, and input for processing of Garnishments and Lien documents complying with all Federal and State Laws for payments and required response(s); ensure that OSV can appropriately deduct and pay recipient appropriately.
- Monitors payroll production errors and proactively share and update SOPs for review and approval by management with any improvement methods.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Associate degree in HR, Accounting or Business Administration preferred, or an equivalent combination of education/experience required.
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
- 1+ years Payroll experience within a complex, high volume, multi-state payroll system required.
- 1-2 years’ experience with Workday payroll or other HCM.
- 1-2 years’ experience required UKG-Kronos system.
- Experience in a retail environment preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Demonstrated knowledge payroll processes including data entry, pay calculations, garnishments, tax, benefits, multi-state taxation rules, gross net manual calculation, final pay requirements, wage and hour laws, etc.
- Proven ability to maintain accuracy and timeliness of all payroll related functions.
- Advanced Excel skills and Workday payroll processes.
- Quality written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately under deadline pressure.
- Ability to understand and track missing and/or required payroll components.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information reviewed and processed.
- Proven ability to maintain accuracy and timeliness of all payroll related functions.
- Ability to understand, calculate, and explain complex calculations and figures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular computer work, sitting, and standing
- Seldom to never lifting up to 50lbs
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
Understand and be able to carry out any of the Payroll Standard Operating Procedures for the End-to End processing. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
