We are seeking a Proposal & Business Development Specialist to join our dynamic team in our New York City office location. The ideal candidate will play an integral role in driving our business growth by developing high-quality proposals and supporting our Business Development team in identifying new business opportunities. This is an in-office role that requires strategic thinking skills, excellent communication, and a high degree of organization. This role is responsible for the development and production of qualification documents (RFQs), proposals (RFPs), presentation materials, and other relevant sales collateral. This role supports our business development team and CRM account management and reports directly to the Senior Proposal Manager.
Business Development Responsibilities:
- Support the development and execution of business development strategies to identify new market opportunities and potential clients.
- Create marketing and sales materials for our market sectors, supporting Schimenti’s business development activities, while ensuring that deadlines are met.
- Maintain and update the Business Development Library and proposal-related information in our CRM on a quarterly basis.
Proposal (Pre & Post Submission) Responsibilities:
- Identify win themes with the support of business development, estimating, project management, and field operation teams to develop proposals in response to client RFPs.
- Coordinate and assist in proposal kick-off meetings, guiding all contributors.
- Collaborate with the Senior Proposal Manager to prepare proposal content, design, and layout.
- Support proposal reviews, including managing the collection, assembly, and distribution of draft materials.
- Edit content for proper grammar, logic, and readability; polish documents to incorporate missing strategy elements.
- Assist in coordinating and preparing for post-bid interviews following proposal submissions, guiding all contributors during kick-off and prep meetings.
- Collaborate with the project team to prepare and execute an interview deck.
- Responsible for final printing and assembly of proposal and interview material, if needed.
- Implement a weekly proposal closeout process and save newly created content to the proposal library.
- Update the proposal library on a quarterly basis.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience, preferably in the AEC industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Knowledge of working with CRM software.
- Ability to work effectively both in a collaborative team environment and independently as required.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Ability to creatively enhance proposal messaging, incorporating key differentiators tailored to clients to win work.
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in New York City. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Schimenti’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000 per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and specific performance awards.
