Responsibilities

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8-10 hours between 7:00am and 5:00pm

No Holidays, No Weekends, No Call!

 

Core Position Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:

 

• Knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to perform nursing assignments of moderate difficulty and experience in assessing adult and geriatric patients, as appropriate.• Utilize the nursing process as a basis for professional practice.• Knowledge of a wide range of medical disorders/conditions, diagnostic studies and treatments, as appropriate. • Knowledge of disease management and education methods.• Working knowledge of military health care system including TRICARE health benefits or a working knowledge of the principles of fee-for-services, preferred provider network and managed care/HMO organizations is highly desirable.• Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents, to specifically include chemotherapeutic and immunotherapy agents, including the desired effects, side effects, and complications.• Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patients’ conditions including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care. • Manages patient care requirements within the unit as well as coordinates with ancillary departments and outside organizations to ensure the continuum of care. • Is accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.• Performs a full range of nursing procedures to include, but not limited to: patient counseling and education, telephone consultations with patients, reviewing charts, intravenous fluid administration, oxygen administration, vital signs monitoring and recording, specimen collection, and other unit-specific procedures as prescribed by the provider.• Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate• Participates in peer review. • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for adult and geriatric patients• Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and make appropriate clinical decisions.• Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.• Ensures compliance with standards of care, practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients. Assessment includes but is not limited to: physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, language barriers, age specific, and discharge planning needs.• Assesses patients, including the ability to assess/evaluate/triage telephonically.• Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.• Collaborates with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, pharmacy, radiology, and lab to plan, implement and evaluate care. • Collects and assesses
