Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Utility Saw Operator in our1st shift Fiber Department at our Conover, NC manufacturing plant.

Job Summary: Responsible for the operation of numerous types of equipment used in the manufacture of fiber/filter products.

Position Scope: Position maintains a daily communication with Quality Control, Department Manager/Supervisor and all department personnel to make sure the needs of all internal and external customers are met through the manufacture of fiber products using a variety of machine, ovens and saws to produce finished products. The position works in a normal manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes.

Requirements and Experience

• Experience operating cut saw machines preferred
• Cut master rolls of fiber down to customer specifications
• Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment required
• Good communication and advanced math skills. 
• Must be forklift certified or experience with sit down forklifts 
• Must be able to read and interpret a tape measure.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and call-in with little notice
• Must be able to lift master roll up onto the cutting table up to 50 lbs. 
• Must be able to work with little or no supervision.

Non-Essentials Functions:

1. Assists with inventory, as required.

2. Other duties as assigned by management.

 

Education:  High school diploma or GED. 

Shift Hours: Monday-Friday 6:30 am-2:00 pm or depending on business needs

Hourly Rate: $21.33-$22.03
