Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Sr. Manufacturing Engineer  to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director, Advanced Modules, the Sr. Manufacturing Engineer will develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. This role will be supporting manufacturing issues on existing product designs and new satellite mechanisms early in the design phase, providing critical design for manufacturability input and supporting testing of these assemblies, while developing and implementing the plan to move from design/test into build/production.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute, maintain, and evolve the company manufacturing strategy and technology roadmap in line with Terran Orbital strategy.
  • Develop production procedures/processes in support of production modules and manage the transition of components and module assemblies from development to production.
  • Write documentation required for successful manufacturing of space grade hardware.
  • Design and develop tooling and fixture solutions for production of hardware
  • Work closely with development and design engineers, internal machine shop, and external vendors to make parts that are designed for manufacturability, reliability, and source-ability, etc..
  • Lead team or participate in production/manufacturing readiness reviews
  • Advise team members on technical decisions related to the team’s product and act as responsible manufacturing engineer on non-conformances and work instructions.
  • Resolve and analyze manufacturing and test discrepancies, while interfacing with the quality team (resolving issues for design, fabrication, and assembly).
  • Drive continuous process improvements to focus on cost reduction and production efficiency in every element of the production processes.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with existing processes or products and makes modifications and improvements as needed.
  • Support space hardware testing, including data analysis
  • Work with production technicians by building (hands-on) of development hardware.
  • Act as point of contact in daily and weekly program and production meetings and provide updates to leadership as required.
  • Travel to supplier sites to survey competency, qualify or resolve issues as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, orother related discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering function within a high reliability manufacturing environment, at least one (1) of which should be in electronics, electric hardware (motors, batteries, transformers) or space hardware build and development.
  • Design software experience (AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferred).
  • Data management software Power BI, SQL, JMP desired.
  • Automation experience (PLC, Robots, Vision) desired.
  • Propulsion systems experience desired.
  • Highly self-motivated and organized with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work well in an integrated team, including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a highly adaptive and iterative environment.
  • Demonstrated achievements of rapidly improving productivity through process improvements while focusing on product reliability and mission success.
  • Experience with process development, facility, and line layouts, PFMEA, error-proofing, lean manufacturing, and implementing automation into production processes.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability, assembly, reliability.

Salary Range $105,000-$140,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
