Job Overview

The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for providing leadership and guidance for our 30+ pediatric hospitals and clinics. This position will oversee Nursing and Patient Care Services operations. The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for driving, supporting and modeling a service-oriented system focused on quality, patient safety, service excellence, fiscal responsibility, and the overall positive patient experience. The Chief Nursing Officer will report directly to the Executive Vice President of Shriners Children's.

 

The position is located at Shriners International Headquarters in Tampa, Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes a shared-governance structure; providing advocacy and representation of the nursing and clinical practice in system-wide planning, acquisitions, policy development and implementations.
  • Supports the organizational model for care management, utilization management and continuum of care options for managing patients populations served within the Shriners Hospital system.
  • Strategizes and drives process improvements focused on innovative care delivery and/or operational models designed to improve clinical services, outcomes, patient throughput, and patient safety.
  • Promotes the use and implementation of technology in the workplace in order to streamline operations, facilitate communications, and optimize work processes.
  • Champions, models, and promotes service excellence philosophies and behaviors throughout the system to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiencies, while benefiting the overall patient experience.
  • Promotes financial stewardship and clinical excellence for the system
  • Defines and implements coordinated nursing and clinical quality and safety of care metrics and appropriate benchmark data sources, as well as a continuous performance improvement process at both hospital and system levels.
  • Promotes clinical evidence-based practice as a foundation for nursing research, clinical outcomes, and standards of care.
  • Provides expert direction in clinical informatics and technology acquisition and implementation. Identifies and leads clinical integration and adaptation with clinical informatics technologies, supporting process and technologies optimization.
  • Leads patient safety initiatives, including medication management and national patient safety goals.
  • Develops methods of advocating for improved patient care through multidisciplinary groups and system wide collaborative effort, while taking into account regulatory requirements such as Joint Commission Standards and National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Collaboratively develops and implements clinical and leadership competencies among nursing staff.

Qualifications

Minimum:• 10+ years of hospital nursing leadership experience• Current RN licensure• Master’s degree

 

Preferred:• Multi-facility/system healthcare leadership experience
