Job Summary:

The Department of Neurology has a need for an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist) with strong values and unique skills for our Behavioral Neurology Section.

This Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work in the Behavioral Neurology Section within the Department of Neurology. This is an outpatient position providing direct care to patients with cognitive, memory, and neurobehavioral disorders, including conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia, and related neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders. Clinical work is primarily comprised of return visits for patients with dementia, including support of their family caregivers. The APP engages closely with colleagues across the Department of Neurology, University of Colorado Hospital, and other satellite locations.

The Department of Neurology has an ongoing need for APPs with strong values and unique skills. Successful candidates will have a proven record of accomplishment in supporting the needs of patients, developing differential diagnoses, and prescribing treatments in collaboration with leading specialty providers. We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, communicative, proactive, caring, detail-oriented, organized, able to think critically, focused on quality, and dedicated to personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

·         Work in collaboration with the Behavioral Neurology section to screen, evaluate, diagnose, manage medications, and provide disease counseling to patients with neurodegenerative diseases.

·         Serves as first contact for clinician-level patient communications

·         Engages in collaborative team-based care to make informed decisions for patient care

·         Support and engage in continual learning and development among nursing staff, pharmacy staff, medical students, and neurology residents

·         Periodic educational presentation of lectures to patients and others

·         Participate in and lead periodic research case conferences

·         Attend Section meetings and educational events

·         Other duties may be assigned as need arises
