Director, Office for Institutional Equity/Title IX Coordinator

Position Overview

The Director, Institutional Equity & Title IX Coordinator is responsible for promoting and ensuring fair and equal treatment for all individuals within the university community through education, advocacy and engagement.  The Director will ensure compliance with Title IX regulations and policies related to sexual misconduct as well as compliance with the university non-discrimination policy.

Responsibilities 

• Serve as the University’s expert on Title IX requirements and compliance and provide consultation to senior leadership as needed
• Maintain compliance with Title IX, Title VII, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964, while also supervising and gathering data from the University 504 Coordinator
• Develop, implement, and review university policies related to sexual misconduct and nondiscrimination.
• Develop and implement protocols and procedures to track progress and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Timely manage the entire complaint process from investigations through appeals.
• Handle complaints of discrimination, harassment, or unequal treatment filed by students, faculty, staff, or visitors; includes conducting investigations, providing support to individuals involved, and taking appropriate remedial action
• Develop and lead bias response protocol, including assessing the potential impact of incidents on the community; monitoring University climate and emerging patterns
• Provide training, workshops, and educational programs to raise awareness about Title IX, and preventing discrimination and harassment; collaborate with other departments or organizations to promote a respectful and inclusive campus environment
• Represent the office in university committees and collaborate with various university departments, administrators, and stakeholders to promote Title IX awareness, diversity and inclusion educational initiatives
• Participate in relevant conferences, sharing best practices, and staying informed about emerging issues and trends in the field of institutional equity
• Manage daily office operations of team 

Required Qualifications 

• 5+ years’ Title IX, institutional equity, AA/EEO and diversity program experience
• Master’s Degree
• Extensive experience administering Title IX guidance and managing Title IX investigations in a higher education setting.
• Experience conducting or supervising discrimination and harassment investigations
• Experience and/or training in responding to complaints of sexual harassment and sexual violence as well as complaint investigation and resolution
• Experience collaborating with other units and developing campus wide strategies for implementation of programs to prevent sexual misconduct, discrimination and harassment
• Previous higher education experience in a leadership capacity.

Preferred Qualifications

• JD
• 7+ years’ direct experience in a University Title IX or DEI office
