Job Title: Residential Maintenance Technician Helper
Classification: Non-exempt
Reports To: Sr. Director of Physical Plant
Job Summary/Objective: Sweet Briar seeks a person capable of independently performing maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and/or preventive maintenance specific to our own campus housing units. This person will support the Residential Maintenance Technician by working jointly as well as independently on prioritized tasks .
Position Type/Expected Work Hours: Full Time, Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; On-Call work and some weekend work will be required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Essential Responsibilities:
- Rough and finish carpentry including cabinetwork, and sheetrock.
- Install and Repair wood, metal, and vinyl doors/windows.
- Install, replace or repair locks
- Patching and painting
- Ability to problem solve
- Change out faucets, commodes and handle minor plumbing issues
- Changing HVAC filters
- Minor electric work including ceiling fan installation, receptacle replacement and troubleshooting
- Fabricates/repairs wood and or concrete
- Assist Contractors in locating and gaining access to facilities
- Repairs all types of roofs, roof drains and flashing, cleans and repairs gutters
- Assists other departments with inclement weather clean up
- Creates and maintains a safe, clean, and well-organized work environment including your work vehicle
