Role Summary

Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, as well as develops and executes comprehensive fundraising plans for various academic and research programs.

 

Responsible for securing major gifts of $25,001 and above through personalized outreach and solicitations, in alignment with development objectives of the School of Engineering.

 

Skills needed to be successful in this position are:
• Organization: The ability to manage tasks efficiently, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain structured records.
• Self-Motivation: A strong drive to take initiative and work independently without constant supervision.
• Resilience in the Face of Rejection: The ability to handle and positively respond to donor rejections.  Maintaining a positive attitude and not letting setbacks affect performance is key.
• Positive Representation: Consistently promoting the University of Mississippi in a professional and favorable light. 

Examples of Work Performed

• Works with Dean of the School of Engineering to set strategies and goals.
• Travels extensively to meet with donors and potential donors, building strong relationships and ensuring ongoing support for our initiatives.
• Coordinates travel for Dean and key faculty to meet and cultivate donor prospects for major gift solicitations.
• Facilitates monthly meetings with Dean to provide updates, ensure alignment and keep them engaged with ongoing development efforts and the donor prospect pipeline.
• Organizes and hosts special events for donors and potential donors, both on and off campus creating memorable experiences that strengthen their connection to the university.
• Follows a stewardship plan to ensure donors are properly thanked for their support.
• Maintains a portfolio and stays engaged with all individuals within portfolio.
• Coordinates with School of Engineering leadership and administration to optimize fundraising efforts, alumni communication and engagement opportunities.
• Coordinates with Volunteer Boards and utilizes volunteer connection to build prospect relationships.

Essential Functions

1. Develops and executes fundraising plans for various academic and research programs.
2. Manages a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, ensuring regular and personalized contact with each donor.
3. Collaborates with senior leadership, faculty, and volunteers to identify and prioritize funding opportunities.
4. Creates and delivers presentations to individuals and groups to educate them about university programs and funding priorities.
5. Writes and submits proposals and reports to donors to provide updates on the impact of their gifts.
6. Works collaboratively with other university departments to ensure coordinated fundraising eff
